Welcome to the Hienet's EVS web page.
From here we'll try to describe and offer clear
information about our EVS projects.
|
This year (from 01-09-1999 to 30-06-2000) our institute
hosts three EVS volunteers (Carine
& Virginie from France
and Dani from Germany).
Here is some information about their tasks, which will be
almost
similar to all projects: |
|
In the institute
we have almost twenty
computers on a local network
and connected to the
Internet.
The
volunteers have essential contact with the members
and the working teams
of our
Youth Club aiming at the exchange of ideas that might lead
to the realization of a project on an Educational or Youth
issue.
They help
our members, who have no knowledge, by teaching
them, here in our place, the basic knowledge of computers.
(They are responsible of a "First Steps Computer
School")
They also work on the discovery of knowledge, presentation
and teaching on work with computers databases and relevant
software creation to the advanced young members
participating in the Institutes work groups.
They use with the young people the applications of certain
software programs (word-processing software, Image
processing, data base programs, Internet, E-mail etc).
They help by translating texts to their mother language,
or from their mother language to English, which will
facilitate the institute's communication with foreign
organizations.
They have their own e-mail address (name@hienet.com ) and
daily contact with the electronic and other equipment of
our Institute.
They help us to find common cultural, folklore as well as
other positive social elements thus serving as a
communication bridge between their and our civilization.
They also contribute to the transfer of knowledge and
experiences from their country and are in daily contact
with the members of our Youth Club.
They are trained in the
construction of WebPages and
Graphics by helping us in the creation process.
They participate in the Institute's workgroups concerning
projects relevant to Youth matters (This last is
optional).
They are not allowed to smoke in the seminars area and
they wear the Institute's shirt on the working hours.
Finally they help us keep our Institute in order
(electronic and other equipment).
Weekends, as well as national holidays they are free and
can use them for their cultural (visits to museums,
archaeological and historical sites, theatres and cinemas,
outings) training.
They have Linguistic training either at weekends or at
weekdays. It includes lessons given by our members that
are experts on that, (basic teaching of the Hellenic
language) as well as knowledge relevant to Hellenic
history and civilization, customs and habits.
On the weekends they visit the nearby islands and almost
everyday they go out because they have many friends.
So….As they say, EVS in Greece and especially in HIEnet,
is a nice experience.
The incoming year, the council of the HIENET has a
schedule to host five (5) volunteers. (From 01-09-2000 to
30-06-2001) and will sent some to other countries.
